We host a diverse range of performers and concerts at the Belfry Centre, from renowned classical musicians and award winning soloists to local jazz ensembles. All set within the beautifully intimate and atmospheric space of the historic school hall, this is one of the best concert venues to see great live music in North Norfolk.


Mick Murphy's Bats In The Belfry Jazz Night

Our regular monthly Friday Jazz Night is quickly growing into a notable date in the North Norfolk jazz diary. Led by Mick Murphy on Clarinet, the line-up includes Tony Ireland playing the Belfry’s beautiful Bechstein piano, Chas  Hudson on Trombone and guest players on Guitar & Drums. Playing a mixture of tunes in New Orleans style, these wonderful players always provide a lovely relaxed evening of entertainment. Tickets £5.

Cromer Music Evenings - Charlotte Bowden, Soprano Michael Musk, Piano

Sunday 26 January 2020 - 3.00pm

Programme to include:  A mixture of favourite lieder and opera arias Charlotte Bowden is currently working towards her Masters of Performance at the Royal College of Music. She is a Britten-Pears Young Artist and was recently awarded second prize and the audience prize at the Maureen Lehane Vocal Awards.   Concert highlights include performing at Snape Maltings, the Oxford Lieder Festival with Sarah Walker and the London Handel Festival.  Charlotte is a Big Give Scholar supported by the Royal College of Music. She is also a Help Musicians UK Ian Fleming Award holder and is grateful for the support of the Josephine Baker Trust.  Tickets: £15. CME members: £10. Young Musicians Concert

Our annual celebration of the most talented young musicians from Norfolk, organised and hosted by Ro Curtis. Many previous performers in this concert have gone on to become successful professional musicians, and this event provides young musicians valuable performance experience in front of a friendly ad supportive audience. Opera Appreciation Club

Thursday 9 January 2020 - and every second Thursday in the month. 1.00-3.00pm.

An afternoon to explore the beauty of the spectacle and learn about the construction of the music. You will be captivated by the power of the drama and the music that makes opera so memorable. £5 per session to include tea/coffee and biscuits. For more information, call 01263 579196.

Belfry Baroque Ensemble

Sunday 16th February 2020 at 3.00pm

Handel - Concerto Grosso in G Major
Purcell - Chacony
Bond - Concerto Grosso in E minor
Festing - Concerto Grosso in G
Purcell - Suite from Abdelazar

This concert will highlight the rich seam of Baroque music that appeared in England in the 17th and 18th centuries, featuring well known and lesser known composers. While Handel and Purcell are familiar, Capel Bond and Michael Christian Festing are less recognised. Yet both were eminent musicians and composers, and their music was regularly performed in England throughout the second half of the 18th Century.
This concert will feature two of their finest compositions as well as pieces by Handel and Purcell, played by the 14 strong Belfry Baroque ensemble, directed by Eddie Jones and led by Keith Hobday. Tickets £8.00. The concert will last approximately one hour with no interval.

Cromer Music Evenings - Hannah Perowne, Violin; Costas Fotopoulos, Piano

Hannah Perowne enjoys a diverse career as an orchestral leader, chamber musician and soloist throughout Europe. She performs regularly in major concert halls including the Musikverein, Vienna and Philharmonie Berlin. In 2018 she performed as permanent guest artist with the internationally acclaimed Henschel Quartet. Hannah performs regularly as guest leader with orchestras including The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Philharmonia, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Bergen Philharmonic. She has led and co-led orchestras in Germany such as the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, Deutsches Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin and the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
She was made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2016.
